The Far Eastern University - Institute of Medicine or FEU-NRMF was born from a vision of Dr. Nicanor Reyes, Sr. In October 22, 1955, the FEU Hospital opened its doors as a charitable institution and provided actual hospital training for students in medicine. The Hospital Committee was composed of Dr. Lauro Panganiban, Chair, Nicanor Reyes Jr., Angel Palanca, and Dr. Ricardo Alfonso who later became the first Hospital Director.

In 1970, the Institute of Medicine, School of Medical Technology, FEU Hospital and the Student Health Service Clinic were converted into a non-stock, non-profit educational foundation and is now known as the FEU Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation.
